Blogging Regularly…Why Should You Do It?
Your eyes stare unfocused at the glowing screen in front of you…you’re a little worn out, a little stressed out…do you really need to post a blog entry today?
The answer is, yes, probably. Well, if you want loyal readers who look forward to reading your posts and hopefully give feedback, then you’re going to want to post an entry. The more you do it, the easier it gets. Seriously, you can crush blogger’s block with a little bit of effort — the more you force yourself to blog, the more good stuff you’ll come up with, and the more you’ll actually enjoy blogging! And there are three pretty solid reasons why you should blog regularly.
1. You need an outlet!
Anyone with a public blog has an interest in recording ideas, thoughts, and creations to share with others. If you have a great brainwave, or create something amazing, what better place to put it then on your blog? If you find something truly inspirational, a blog is a great place to repost it and give some insight on it. Blogging about something you like, something that interests you, something you’re proud of, etc. is a great way to relieve stress and let yourself do something enjoyable and relaxing. And it is relaxing: letting all those jumbled thoughts out of your head onto a screen — that’s stress relief! Better yet, getting feedback on your blog is exciting and fun, that way others can share ideas with you, answer your questions, or just give you a little boost of confidence by letting you know that you have loyal readers. This brings me to the next point…
2. Regular posts bring in regular readers
I’m not sure about you, but I’m not the type who adds a blog to my GoogleReader if the owner only posts every month or so. Seriously, the next time a post pops up, I probably won’t remember what that particular blog is even about. If you post regularly, say, at least a couple of times a week, people will expect content and happily anticipate your next blog post! It’s also always helpful to come up with some kind of series of blog posts that have an underlying theme — “freaky food Fridays,” for example — to help spark some ideas for yourself and let people know that there is more great content on the way! Also, the more comfortable and familiar people become with your posts, the more likely they are to comment. One-time blog readers aren’t usually big commenters, but the people who read your brilliant posts every few days are pretty likely to begin leaving some form of feedback.
3. Attracting search engine crawlers is easier when you post regularly
This is a pretty simple reason to blog often: the more often you post content, the more often search engine crawlers add your content to their ever-morphing libraries of the internet. Think about how many bloggers post in a day — do you want to get lost in the sea of bloggers by only posting one or two times a month? NO! You want to be that bold blogger who stands out with new, interesting, frequent content. Come on, this one’s a no brainer.
Stay tuned for the next post in the blogging series…so you want to post regularly, but can’t seem to come up with content — how can you make your blog interesting?
